Does anyone know where I can get a free website that is advertised on major search engines?
Also if at all possible no monthly fees required. Or websites that I can create with http://www.blank.com instead of http://www.blank/geocities.com or something like that.

Well, I don’t know of any that will give you a domain name of http://www.blank.com for free, but freedomain.co.nr might be a good choice. You create your website with one that gives you a free website (for example, geocities, freewebs, etc… and then you go to freedomain.co.nr and all you have to do is put their button on your site somewhere on the front page and your website can be called: blank.co.nr

7 Steps to an Effective SEO Strategy
Here are 7 steps to an effective SEO strategy. They are based around what some of the Google® ranking factors are and how eash step will impact them.
1. Keyword research – The keywords you use for your website will determine so many ranking factors such as:
* Title tags
* Meta tags
* Keyword usage in the body
* Header tags
* Domain name (if applicable)
* Type of websites you link to
These are just a few, there are more, but keyword research is the first step towards successful SEO strategy.
2. Relevant content development – try creating 20-30 pages of original, relevant, content to what your keywords are. Search engines rank the websites based on the keywords and the websites that have relevant content to those keywords. Your content can easily make you or break you in the search engines so make sure its original, and once again, relevant to your keywords.
3. Design your website to be "linkable" – Internal linking of your website, which is the number and importance of internal links pointing to a page, and external links from other websites pointing to your website are important to SEO. In some cases as important to your keywords. This means making your website more navigable and user friendly by linking your internal pages on your website and keeping your site design simple will make it more appealing for quality external websites to link to it. 6. Study your Stats and make adjustments – Your website should have statistics actively tracking from day one. Make sure they are comprehensive enough to track what keywords are popular and what people are typing in the search engines to find your website. Also they need to track what websites are referring to yours and how you were able to be linked by those websites. Then make adjustments, build more content around the more popular keywords, and the more popular referring websites. This will make your content more relevant to the serach engines.
7. Keep your content fresh – Remember the search engines rank websites primarily according to content, not domain name, or how much you spend in pay per click ads, or even the number of hits you have. All of those listed above play a small role in your ranking, but content is king. A simple way to keep content fresh is to have a blog on your website. This will not only keep your visitors interested in your websites content but the search engines will see that its newer, and unique and improve your rankings because of your content.
